Take your 3G wireless internet access anywhere using the U142! This USB adapter allows the use of the new 3G and HSDPA high speed data cards from Option via a USB port enabling these PC cards to be used with a desktop or laptop without a CardBus slot.
The U142 is ideal for customers who live in an area without high speed wired internet access, or whose laptop does not offer a PCMCIA/CardBus slot, such as the new Dell latitude X1 models. The adapter is compatible with desktops, notebooks or specialist systems (such as Point of Sale machines).
The U-142 will only work with a specific range of Options wireless data cards so please check below for the list of currently supported cards. This will be updated as and when support for additional cards is added.
Please note that the unique hardware design of the U142 has been developed especially for this type of wireless modems, so other card types are not supported. The U142 does not support memory cards.

To identify which USB reader model you need you will need to know the manufacturer and their model name for your card. It is not always easy to get this information from your operator, so if in doubt we suggest you contact your local Elan stockist for advice about which cards operators are selling now in your area.
Operators often offer more than one model, and also discontinue old models and start shipping new ones, so this list is not exhaustive. Some operators also use the same product name to cover more than one card model, which can be confusing. However if you already have your 3G card you should be able to work out which USB adapter you need to support it from here. (The manufacturer's name and model number is usually on a label on the back of the card.)
Option Wireless make a large number of different models, and the best way to be sure which model you have is to check the letter at the start of the serial number (on the back of the card).
Note that if Wireless LAN is integrated into your card, this will not work via a USB adapter.

Notes:
- Note on Option Models - There are many different Option card models, and operators do not always refer to the Option Wireless model name. The most reliable way to differentiate between them is using the two letters at the start of the serial number and to check our compatibility chart.
- Verizon PC5740 or KPC650 card + U132 combinations support a manual connection, but the Verizon VZAccess software does not recognise the card. We are working with Verizon to add this function.
Most cards are supplied badged by an operator. The list above is not a comprehensive list of all operators supplying supported cards; if you have one of the listed card models but have purchased it from a different operator it should operate correctly in the U132, please contact us for guidance if you are unsure. Re-branded cards usually state the manufacturer's name and model number on the reverse label.
